875N1 - Ethics and Organisations: Responsibility and Justice

Candidates should attempt two of four questions:

1. Discuss what role sentiments play in our moral judgement. Use your personal examples to illustrate how your sentiments shape your relationship to the misfortune of others. Consider the limits of this relationship.

2. Discuss how Bentham’s idea of happiness is different from one of Aristotle. Why is understanding of happiness important for our moral judgement?

3. Discuss the Kantian understanding of freedom. Explain why freedom is fundamental to our moral judgement.

4. Discuss why assigning ethical responsibilities to organizations can actually increase unethical organizational practices.
